Rooted & Rising: an Intro to the Next Gen Initiative

What does it look like to consider how our cultural heritage, immigrant backgrounds, and/or ethnic identities shape our relationship with God and how we relate to the Church and the world?

Rooted & Rising is a conversation around 6 ingredients for youth and young adults in the diaspora who are interested in growing their faith.

Listen as Pastor Samuel Teka (2nd Gen Ethiopian Canadian) and Nindeba Espoir (1.5 Gen Congolese American) interview Fatima Glass (1.5 Filipina American) and reflect on six key values that shape our work with 1.5 and 2nd gen emerging from immigrant spaces: healing, identity, reclaiming, community, bicultural bridge building, and a lifestyle of service and justice. Whether you're still navigating your own diaspora story, leading in your context, or just beginning the journey, this series is a space to reflect, relate, and respond to these questions and more. Join us as we dig deep, hold space, and dream forward—together.

Tune in for new episodes each week on our YouTube page. We’ll different guests who speak into each value and how it’s shaped their faith and experiences!
